Controller to ensure the following core actions have been completed:

Obtain from the signaller all details including ELR, place name or point of reference, the exact phrase used by the reporting person. The reporting trains headcode etc

Establish with the signaller what method of working is being implemented, i.e. the signal that trains are being stopped & cautioned at or if trains are being diverted on to another line.

Arrange for PWay to attend.

Ensure a MOM is requested to attend.

Advise TOC/FOC

Consider escalating to TME if appropriate

Issue a Tyrell message.

If a broken damaged or distorted rail is found use broken rail SOP.

In all instances record details in CCIL & FMS.
