Suspected Track Defect Reported by a Person Other Than Traincrew
Controller to ensure the following core actions have been completed:
If a report is received of a rough ride or track defect from anyone other than the driver or guard on a train the following actions must be carried out:-
Obtain the name and contact details of the person reporting the issue.
Speak directly to that person obtain all the relevant information relating to the suspected defect (see NOP 3.07.8)
If after following the original flow chart (see over) a caution is required to be imposed advise the signal box concerned giving exact location etc.
Obtain details from signaller of where the caution will be imposed from etc.
Arrange for Pway response and MOM response.
Advise TRC/TOC/FOC
Update CCIL/FMS and send a Tyrell message and WhatsApp
If after following the flowchart a caution is not required you must still inform Pway but advise them that immediate response is not required.
