Emergency Services on the Railway
Controller to ensure the following core actions have been completed:
Network Rail Control must give permission to the Emergency Services
Control before they can go on or near the lines.
Be clear and firm with the Emergency Services. Do they really need
power off and lines blocked?
Ascertain EXACTLY what they intend to do.
Do they really need power off and lines blocked?
Tell Emergency Service NOT to go on the line until you give them permission or can they wait until the MOM arrives
Advise the Signaller and confirm trains are on stop or cautioned
If appropriate give your permission to go on the line.
Arrange for MOM (or other appropriate person) to attend and act as RIO if applicable
Advise TOC/FOC
Inform Emergency Services Control (or RIO if appointed) that they must report when all personnel are clear
If applicable power may only be restored when Emergency Services Control (or RIO if appointed) confirm all personnel are clear.
Obtain confirmation from the MOM (or RIO if appointed) that emergency services are clear of the line, if applicable
Update CCIL and send a Tyrell message and WhatsApp
