Autumn – WSTCF (Wrong Side Track Circuit Failure)
Controller to ensure the following core actions have been completed:
Identify unit / headcode involved and track affected
Is the Track Intermittent/Continuous
Establish method of work, special working arrangements in operation(3.5/Double block)
Is it a known High risk site
Advise TOC/FOC and ensure Wheel sets are checked for contamination within 30 minutes
Special Examination (All Wheels on one side of the train) 1.Continuous black band of contamination, half an inch or more from centre of tread -Consider as contaminated 2.If 50% of Axles contaminated -Train to be taken out of service ASAP

1.Continuous black band of contamination, half an inch or more from centre of tread -Consider as contaminated
2.One or both Axles are contaminated -Consider as contaminated 3.If 50% of Axles contaminated -Train to be taken out of service Immediately/ASAP
Ensure contaminated train is monitored throughout the return journey to depot or station. Ensure the service is treated as a train that cannot be relied upon to operate the TC. Special attention required at High Risk areas.
Ensure WSTCF paperwork is completed if confirmed a High risk failure
Escalate to relevant Ops and Maintenance teams and advise NOC if High risk failure
Send response staff, ensure No remedial actions take place until authorised by Level 2 S&T
