Failed & Stranded Train
Controller to ensure the following core actions have been completed:

Factors such as weather conditions, local conditions outside of the train and any vulnerable passengers should be considered before evacuating a train.
Location/line/train headcode and time. Establish nature of failure.
Can the train be platformed/ emergency permissive working be used to partially platform/detrain
Liaise with TRC regarding assistance available for the failed train.
Establish headcount, power supply, onboard conditions and vulnerable passengers
Start Stranded train risk assessment
Update CCIL and send Tyrell
Dispatch response staff, consider using other resources in preparation for evacuation
Consider evacuation options in order. Complete train evacuation risk assessment
Ensure all staff involved are prepared for the method of detraining

If evacuation is to be a side to side, location of nearest bridge shown in notes below
Bridges may require loading on the rescue train dependent on the location of the failed train due to weight

Bridges can be used on all EMR Rolling stock and combinations


Hold final call with RIO prior to evacuation commencing to go through all arrangements Reminder of one person at a time.
- Bridge must be flat and handrails fitted prior and all checked to be secure by RIO before commencement of evacuation.
- Max loading is one adult, one adult with one child, one person in a wheelchair, small children to be accompanied by an adult.
